I think that the direction I am going to go in is going to be Math for my first lesson plan for Education 338. I am thinking first I am going to read students a story called Once Upon a Dime. It is about organic farming. I won't give to much away but as you can guess from the title the book has to do with coins. Then maybe I am going to create a lesson using coins to teach the students money amounts. Just some thoughts, I don't have any thing set in stone.
Too funny! I just posted that I was thinking of doing Math lesson with word problems. It seems to be an area that most of us groan or complain about because there are more letters than numbers. I thought this was MATH not ENGLISH?
ReplyDeleteI was always so intimidated about word problems until college. I has a wonderful teacher. Now I love to tutor/teach students the words(formula) so that they know from a set of key words what the problem is and what words/numbers aren't needed. I look forward to your lesson Amanda. Also, in EDUC 270, we had to do several 5 lesson plan ideas a week. There are so many books, to use in math.

ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your lesson plan, your anticipatory set with book has me interested already.
ReplyDeleteI. CANNOT. wait. I am intrigued.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE organic farming and money... this lesson is right up my alley! Haha. It sounds like a fun, intriguing lesson that would have a lot of hands-out, kinesthetic opportunities.
